Just The Basics® was founded by Terri Bonar-Stewart in 1994.  Terri was President and CEO until September 2009. 

Just The Basics® offers a full range of Human Resource Management consulting and training services, including Human Resource Audits; development of performance evaluation systems; executive coaching; conflict resolution; and leadership training.

Services and training offered are customized to meet the unique needs of each client.  Just The Basics offers a complimentary one-hour consultation to determine if a potential client’s needs can be met by our organization.  If our organization does not have the appropriate expertise, we will refer clients to colleagues with the right competencies.

Linda GravettLinda Gravett, Ph.D., SPHR, CEQC became President and CEO of Just The Basics in September 2009 to carry on the work that Terri started.  Linda was a Human Resource Management practitioner until 1991, when she founded Gravett and Associates, a Cincinnati-based consulting firm specializing in helping organizations leverage the skills and talents of a diverse workforce.  While Gravett and Associates focuses on organizations with 500+ employees, Just The Basics, Inc. focuses on small companies and not for profits.

Our Team

Kim Anderson, M.S., SHRM-SCP: Associate
Kim Anderson offers 30 years of experience as a human resources practitioner and consultant within a variety of business environments, both corporate and non-profit.  PriorKim Anderson photo to starting her consulting business in 2003, she spent five years providing organizational development services in a technology environment, and operated a private career coaching practice.  In her current business consulting, she provides leadership and staff development, executive coaching, organizational design and assistance with internal/external communication to enhance workplace effectiveness, support collaborative teams, and build skills focused on the work that’s already on the to-do list.   
A  member and volunteer leader of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Kim has worked at both the local and state level in elected and appointed positions.  She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from the Human Resource Certification Institute and is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management as a SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Kim received her Master of Science degree in Counseling from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with concentrations in Economics and Insurance, from Indiana State University.
Kim uses a variety of tools and assessments in her consulting practice. She has worked with emerging leaders and project teams using a Strengths-Based Leadership process to guide development. She designed an exit interview process that employs the Appreciative Inquiry approach to asking questions. Kim also uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Career Architect in her training and coaching.
Phillip D. Jones, Ph.D.:  Senior Associate
Dr. Phil Jones is the former Director of the Cintas Center at Xavier University and Head of the Executive MBA Program, while simultaneously serving as an organizational design and strategic human resources consultant to private industry.  He has developed and delivered consulting and developmental processes and programs to organizations throughout the country, with organizations such as Hebrew Union College, Car-Part.com and Kroger Bakeries and Dairies. 
For over 30 years Phil has consulted with corporate, government and non-profit organizations on such topics as human resources and staff development, quality process analysis, improving communication systems, management and supervisory processes, strategic planning, organizational design and stress and time management.
Phil has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and MA in Experimental and Clinical Psychology and a BA in English. 

He is also certified in training and coaching using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

Renee Springer, MS, SPHR:  Senior Associate
Renee Springer has 25 years experience as a consultant, business and life coach, and organizational development practitioner.  Her areas of expertise include leveraging cultural diversity, strategic planning and organizational assessment.  Renee has lent her expertise to organizations such as Mercy Health Partners, Ford Motor Company, and General Electric Aircraft Engine. 
Renee holds a BS in Business Administration and an MS in Organizational Development.  She is a Registered Corporate Coach through the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches and holds the HRCI certification of SPHR.

Alison Brown:  Associate
Alison brings 20 years’ experience and expertise as a diversity management consultant.  She specializes in employee training and development in the areas of customer service, leadership, teambuilding and leveraging diversity.  She has lent her consulting expertise to organizations such as Firstar, American Red Cross, and Disciples of Christ Church.  Alison has a BBA in Business Administration and serves on the adjunct faculty for Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.

Alfonso Cornejo:  Associate
Alfonso Cornejo has a well-rounded background in all facets of business, with particular expertise in Human Resource Management.  Before entering the consulting field, Alfonso worked for 30 years with Fortune 500 companies such as Procter & Gamble, Clorox and Chiquita Brands.  Alfonso’s primary area of interest and expertise is business development in Latin America.  He was born and raised in Mexico and is the President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Cincinnati.  Alfonso holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mexico.

Fred Eck, MBA, SPHR: Associate
Fred is an energetic, results oriented Human Resources professional with excellent strategic, creative and executive skills honed over his 35-year career in the manufacturing, government contracting, family business and education fields.  His experience includes four years in a manufacturing plant environment.
Fred is a member of the adjunct faculty at Sinclair College and is an active volunteer leader with the Society for Human Resource Management at the local, regional and state levels.
Fred holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and an MBA from Bowling Green State University.  He is also certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

David Gale, SPHR: Associate
David Gale has over 30 years’ experience in human resource management serving in higher education,David Gale photo healthcare, insurance, and HR outsourcing and consulting.  He has extensive experience in developing, updating, and publishing employee handbooks and stand-alone HR policies, job descriptions, organization charts, and HR knowledgebase articles. 
David holds a BS degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University with major coursework in labor economics and human resource management.  He is also holds certification as a Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR) with the HR Certification Institute.  He is a veteran of the U.S Navy, where he began his career in human resource management.

Michael A. Lair:  Associate
Mike is an acclaimed consultant who specializes in helping people and businesses learn to work together to set and meet organizational goals.  He develops and delivers programs in leadership development, team effectiveness and personal performance.  His background includes serving as Director of Organizational Learning for Joy Education Center (Camp Joy) and senior consultant with Xavier Consulting Group, Xavier University.  Mike has a BA in Industrial Psychology/Quality of Work from Bowling Green State University.

Charlie Runtz, MBA:  Associate 
Charlie brings expertise in the public utilities field to consulting, with experience in strategic planning, protective labor legislation, and mergers and acquisitions.  He has assisted organizations with alignment of their policies and procedures with strategic objectives, staff training, and developing competency-based job descriptions.  Charlie has an MBA and a BSEE, with a background in engineering prior to Human Resources.

Steven J. Allison:  Associate 
Steve earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics (with a major in Accounting) from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Finance and Commerce.  Steve is a Diversity Awareness and Training Consultant who has assisted organizations with understanding and communicating critical issues related to valuing and managing diversity.  He has also served as Project Management Officer within the Revenue Management Department of a large University based Healthcare System and managed the marketing and enrollment functions of a Medicaid Managed Care Organization developing direct enrollment campaigns, ongoing public relations, community outreach, and communication efforts.  As Director and later VP of a multiservice Home Healthcare Organization, he coordinated “JCAHO” Accreditation Survey Preparation and community relations initiatives, and was a management liaison for his organization during the development and implementation of a multiservice Home Healthcare Partnership with a Children’s Hospital.  Steve also competed as a Professional Soccer Player for three seasons for the Memphis Americans Soccer Team.
